Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and electrical equipment. We are hiring a Painter/Blaster at our Southeast Houston facility. Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 am - 3:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

Position Summary

Paint raw steel platforms, products, and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Paint raw steel platforms and various products and equipment.
• Move platforms and products using overhead cranes or forklifts.
• Perform wet painting safely and efficiently.
• Assist with general labor and cleaning tasks as directed.
• Maintain routine maintenance and clean equipment.
• Document inspections and paint usage accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in wet painting, sandblasting, and surface prep.
• Basic math skills.
• Proficiency with airless and conventional spray systems with minimal defects.
• Knowledge of wet painting, paint mixing (e.g., epoxy primer, polyurethane).

Skills and Abilities

• Good command of English (written and verbal).
• Experience with steel grit blasting and maintenance.
• Ability to work independently or in small teams.
• Maintain a clean work area and dispose of materials properly.
• Recognize and repair paint defects.
• Troubleshoot spray equipment.
• Follow safety protocols, procedures, and ISO standards.
• Work up to 12-hour shifts, including occasional weekends.

Environmental Conditions

• Stand and walk on concrete for up to 8 hours daily.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Pass breathing and respirator fit tests.
