Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting in Michigan is seeking a painting/fabrication support team member. You will assist with surface preparation, paint mixing, and finishing under foremen and supervisors, while moving materials and maintaining a safe work area.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of commercial/industrial experience or related technical schooling, basic math skills, and the ability to follow instructions. Forklift and crane experience are a plus. Valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of commercial/industrial experience or related technical schooling preferred.
• Basic math, measuring, and geometry skills.
• Painting, surface preparation, paint mixing, or finishing experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and staging components for painting.
• Support paint mixing, coating application, touch-ups, and finishing under supervision.
• Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment for painting and fabrication.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and staging structural fabricated components for painting.
• Support paint mixing, coating application, touch-ups, and finishing under the direction of foremen, supervisors, or experienced painters.
• Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment needed for painting and fabrication work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety standards and proper handling practices.
• Follow verbal and written instructions while developing painting, preparation, and fabrication support skills within the Weld/Fab department.

Requirements:

• 1–2 years of commercial/industrial experience or related technical schooling preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using common hand and power tools.
• Basic math, measuring, and geometry skills.
• Painting, surface preparation, paint mixing, or finishing experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Dependable, self-directed, and able to work effectively with others.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Equipment and tool experience:

• Forklift experience preferred.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.
• Experience loading trailers with construction or fabricated materials preferred.
• Basic experience with painting and preparation tools, including brushes,

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
• Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
• Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
• Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
• Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
