Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting, based in Pontiac, MI, is seeking skilled carpenters to join our team. Responsibilities include following foreman directions, mentoring apprentices, and assisting on diverse commercial projects, with strict adherence to safety protocols and site organization.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of carpentry experience in a commercial setting, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently and from blueprints.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years carpentry experience in a commercial setting.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work effectively with all personality types.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Follow foreman and supervisor instructions to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Lead an apprentice on smaller projects.
  • Support apprentices, other carpenters, and foreman on various projects.
  • Understand design layouts and blueprints.
  • Keep the job site clean and well-organized.
  • Handle loading/unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards.
  • Fuel and wash department vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Telehandler
  • Skid Steer – Material Handling
  • Overhead crane certified & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO)
  • Mobile crane certified and & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO – Preferred)
Tool Experience
  • Wood working tools - Circular saw, hand saw, power drills, etc.
  • Metal Working tools - hand saw, bandsaw, grinders, etc.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
  • Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
