Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a painter to decorates by requisitioning from inventory or placing orders, and to prepare surfaces for finishes. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow safety and quality guidelines.

Onsite position with standard 40-hour work week; includes responsibilities from masking and surface prep to applying paints and finishes, with opportunities for skill development and experience across facilities. EEO governed and competitive base pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Related experience 3-5 years required.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions; understanding implications of new information for problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders.
• Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
• Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
• Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
• Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting.
• Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
• Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
• Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or other finishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
