Job description

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Our company is seeking a skilled Painter/Finisher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various duties based on departmental needs. This individual will work with blueprints, shop orders, written procedures, and verbal instructions to operate overhead cranes, abrasive shot blasting equipment, airless, conventional, plural component, and HVLP paint spraying systems. They must also operate a variety of hand tools, including wrenches, drills, dual action sanders, and mixing equipment. The ideal candidate must be skilled in rigging large weldments safely with chains, shackles, and hooks from spreader bars to facilitate painting of these weldments.

Additional Requirements:

• Visually inspect weldments
• Abrade surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive blasting equipment, shovels, or pours abrasives such as glass bead sand, grit, shot, or other specified blast media of the required grade into machine hopper or reclaim systems
• Maintain booth cleanliness periodically
• Wear proper PPE and ensure the proper care, storage, and usage of equipment
• Operate the Wheelabrator abrasive shot blasting machine following manufacturer recommendations, written procedures, and safe operating practices; perform routine cleanup and TPM. Record EPA-required data regarding dust collection and maintain the dust collection system
• Operate a forklift safely to load/unload parts on the Wheelabrator, deliver parts, and store them at their designated locations. Use the forklift and battery-powered barrel dumping system to load shot into the machine from 2000# drums

What You Need to Succeed

• High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months of related experience/training; or equivalent education and experience
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work overtime when required
