Job summary

Florida State University is seeking a maintenance painter to perform campus-wide tasks, including surface preparation, painting, and waterproofing. The role will involve scaffolding setup and coordinating with OPS painters and helpers.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience, or a technical/vocational degree. A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license is required or obtainable after hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad spectrum of routine maintenance campus wide.
• Duties include plastering, hard coat, mixing compound, prepares surfaces for painting, uses paint remover, sanders, sandpaper, vacuum cleaners, chemicals and cleaning materials, Caulks, spackles and patches surfaces.
• Paint interior and exterior surfaces using spray, brush or roller; apply waterproofing and refinish surfaces; glaze windows and doors; assemble scaffolds for painting.
• Clean and repair painting equipment, order supplies, maintain stock; apply epoxy coatings for waterproofing and resurfacing; supervise OPS painters and trades helpers.
• Provide supplies and equipment for assistants and install locks & cylinders as assigned; replace base covers and tiles.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing a broad spectrum of routine maintenance campus wide.
• Duties in part, will include plastering, hard coat, mixing compound, prepares surfaces for painting, uses paint remover, sanders, sandpaper, vacuum cleaners, chemicals and cleaning materials, Caulks, spackles and patches surfaces as required.
• Using spray, brush or roller method, undercoats and paints building interior and exterior. Sprays waterproofing on exterior surfaces or buildings. Refinish surfaces of wood furniture, glaze windows and doors and assembles scaffolds used in painting work.
• Cleans and repairs painting equipment, orders supplies and equipment. Maintains small level of working stock. Applies epoxy coatings to walls and floors of showers, patios, walkways for waterproofing and/or resurfacing purposes. Supervision of OPS painters and trades helpers to accomplish painting and surface preparation campus wide. Provides supplies, equipment for assistants and performs other maintenance work as assigned by Supervisor including installation of locks & cylinders.
• Replacement of cover base, ceramic and VCT tile.
