Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic painting & wallcovering work. Complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis. Participate in the preventive maintenance program for all buildings and rooms. Complete other special projects assigned periodically by the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
3. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, regardless of how busy or the time of day.
4. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
5. Resolve guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
6. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
7. Receive daily work assignments from the Director of Engineering/Manager and review priorities and special projects.
8. Perform general maintenance to guestrooms and public areas.
9. Assist other engineering personnel as instructed by Supervisor regarding routine and preventive maintenance.
10. Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of all tools.
11. Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces safely.
12. Ensure security of any assigned keys.
13. Assist with any special projects assigned.
14. Attend designated department and staff meetings.
15. Recommend safety ideas; participate in fire prevention and other life safety programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a commercial painter.
• Working knowledge of different types of paints and their applications.
• Knowledge of wall coverings (wallpaper, vinyl coverings, etc.).
• Knowledge of stains and finishes.
• Proficiency with all tools and equipment related to the job.
• Ability to interpret manufacturer’s literature for installation, preparation, use, and maintenance of various materials and products.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
