Job summary

John Grace Restoration and Construction in West Michigan is seeking a Lead Painter who will take ownership of restoring homes, delivering craftsmanship, leadership, and clear communication to support our mission of restoring lives. You must guide a team, ensure safety, and uphold quality across projects.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of paint experience and 2–3 years of supervision in construction, thriving in a dynamic, demanding setting while maintaining professionalism and reliability.

• 3–5 years of verifiable paint experience.
• 2–3 years of team leadership in a construction environment.
• Ability to function in a high-stress, daily-changing environment.
• Excellent time management, delegation, and multitasking skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback for growth.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of paint and job site safety.
• Skilled in site prep, painting, spraying finishes and touch-up work.
• Work on jobsites daily and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Drive company vehicle to jobsites and follow traffic laws.
• Communicate technical knowledge to homeowners in a professional manner.
• Mentor and develop painters and other team members.
• Work week typically 40–45 hours, not to exceed 50 hours during busy times.

Purpose of the Lead Painter Role

As a Lead Painter you are taking ownership of helping to restore homes for the communities of people we serve. You must provide excellent craftsmanship, leadership, and outstanding communication to help us achieve our purpose of restoring lives.

We are looking for someone who

• Has 3-5 years of on-job experience in a verifiable paint role.

• Skilled in all aspects of site prep, painting, spraying finishes and touchup work.
• Work on jobsites daily and always maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Drive company vehicle to jobsites- follow all traffic laws.
• Communicate technical knowledge and expectations in a professional/effective manner to homeowners who may be unfamiliar with painter terminology and process.
  
• Work to develop painters and other team members.
• Work week is typically 40-45 hours a week, not expected to exceed 50 hours during busy times.

Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is a very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
• Candidate for employment must have a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
• Candidate must pass a criminal background check to perform work on insurance related claims.
• Basic knowledge of smartphone/email technology.
