Job summary

Allina Health in Cottage Grove, MN, is seeking a skilled Painter to perform interior and exterior decorating, wall coverings, staining and refinishing of equipment. This 1.0 FTE role involves 10-hour shifts across day/evening/night and occasional weekends, with travel to Clinic Sites in the Twin Cities region on a project basis.

Responsibilities include surface prep, drywall patching, finishing walls, staining millwork, and using various spray tools.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required competencies.
• 2+ years of painting experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; Journeyman Painter training in a trade union.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting and patching/drywall repair.
• Apply wall finishes to all types of wall surfaces to achieve uniform texture and appearance.
• Stain doors and millwork to ensure final finish without drips or defects.
• Use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and compressors to complete painting jobs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and general maintenance duties as assigned.

Also performs general maintenance duties.Principle ResponsibilitiesPrepares surfaces for painting.Dry wall taping and patching of sheetrock or plaster repair.Sanding; ensuring surfaces are protected from dust and debris.Painting, Repair and Maintenance.Assesses jobs to determine how and what materials to apply.Apply wall finishes to all types of wall surfaces to ensure walls are uniform in texture and appearance. ie: Latex oil base, epoxy, varnish, and lacquer paints.Stain doors and miscellaneous millwork ensure final finish appearance is without drips or defects.Use brushes, rollers, spray equipment (cup, gun, airless gas, and electric, conventional pressure tank, air compressor) to complete the job.Performs preventive maintenance.Performs regular maintenance duties as assigned.Hang wall coverings.Plastic, vinyl or fabric.Ensure the shop and equipment are clean and safely kept.Maintains supplies.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMust be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description2+ years of painting experience ie preparation, application, knowledge and care of equipment (in a Hospital setting preferred)Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDVocational or Technical Training as a Journeyman Painter in a trade unionPhysical DemandsMedium Work:Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequentlyLicenses/CertificationsValid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment if working in a clinic settingPay RangePay Range: $31.07 to $42.59 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range.
