Job summary

Duratech Industries in Jamestown, ND, is seeking a Painter to join our manufacturing team. The position is full-time with a Monday–Thursday shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, starting pay at $19.00 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The Painter will apply protective coatings to machines and parts, read blueprints, and work safely with PPE. Responsibilities include masking, operating spray equipment, and keeping work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and specifications preferred.
• Mechanical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans grease and dirt from product.
• Applies masking tape over parts and areas not to be coated.
• Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
• Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
• Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
• Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool.
• Operates overhead chain hoists to move heavy parts for coating.
• Operates forklift to move parts within the assembly operation.
• Uses tools such as hammers, grinders, wrenches and drills.
• Maintains respirator and PPE in proper condition.
• Follows safety rules and keeps a clean, safe work area.

Job Summary:
A Painter is responsible for applying protective or decorative coatings—such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer to machines and manufactured products using various application techniques and equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Cleans grease and dirt from product.
• Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
• Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
• Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
• Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.
• Removes rust from metal with acid, wire brush, or steel wool.
• Operates pneumatic, electric, or manual overhead chain hoists to properly move heavy parts into position for coating.
• Operates forklift to move parts to and from other locations of the assembly operation.
• Operates various tools such as hammers, pneumatic grinders, impact wrenches and drills.
• Maintains respirator and other personal protective equipment in proper operating condition.
• Abides by all company, state, and federal safety rules and/or regulations.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Must be able to follow methods and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings.

• Basic proficiency in mathematics, reading, and writing.
• Must have the ability to work rapidly and under pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must have manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Must be able to navigate facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, bending, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
• Wear and work in personal protective equipment.
• Must pass a Respirator Medical Evaluation to determine ability to perform the job.

Work Environment

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Noise level is moderate to loud.
• Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
