Job summary

Diamond Construction, Inc. is seeking a Painter to join our crew. You will paint surfaces with brushes, spray guns, or rollers, match colors, and prepare surfaces for finishing. Read work orders, and maintain tools while traveling to job sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has 0-2 years of painting experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and owns their own tools. Wage range is $18.00–$25.00 per hour, with benefits after the introductory period and details at interview.

  • It is the responsibility of each person to adhere to all of Diamond policies. If anyone is performing in a manner outside of our company policies, you are expected to report this to the operations manager.
Summary of Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Paints surfaces using brushes, spray gun, or rollers.
  • Applies paint to simulate wood grain, marble, brick, or stonework.
  • Sands surfaces between coats and polishes final coat to specified finish.
  • Washes and treats surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations.
  • Smooths surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machine.
  • Mixes and matches colors of paint, stain, or varnish.
  • Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk putty, plaster, or other filler using caulking gun or putty knife.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
  • Covers surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surface during painting.
  • Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to work above ground level.
  • Reads work order or receives oral or written instructions from supervisor or customer.
  • Inquiries about proper labor method and efficiencies from crew or supervisor.
  • Asks clarification questions when necessary.
  • Keeps a running dialog with supervisor about project progress and issues on a daily basis
  • Performs routine crew duties effectively – on time cards – catalogs labor with accuracy and detailed description on daily basis without assistance or reminder
  • Inquiries on correct material use if unknown
  • Cleans and maintains equipment.
  • Complies with safe job-site conditions.
  • Shares responsibility for maintaining clean and secure work site.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel to out of town job sites

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: occasional difficult public contact; frequent exposure to variety of weather conditions, vibration, noise, fumes, dust, and moving mechanical parts. Some travel may be required.

FLSA Status:

This position is eligible for overtime pay.

Wages/Benefits:

Successful applicant will be paid an hourly wage in the range of $18.00 to $25.00 with actual starting wage dependent on his/her qualifications, experience, and capabilities. Some benefits are available to full-time, regular employees after successful completion of the Introductory Period and these benefits will be explained at time of interview.
