Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for finishes on plaster, masonry, wood, metal, plastics, etc.
  • Mix and apply spackle or plaster to obtain smooth surfaces and apply cement to small areas.
  • Use brushes, rollers and spray equipment for finishing; prepare and repair walls and coverings.
  • Spackle and tape joints; install corner beads on drywall and plaster as assigned.
  • Follow masking, solvents and mixing agent procedures; perform miscellaneous related tasks.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare various surfaces for finishes, including plaster surfaces, masonry, wood, metal, plastics, etc.
  • Mix and apply spackle or plaster to obtain smooth surfaces.
  • Mix and apply cement to small areas.
  • Use sanding equipment and other hand tools for finishing surfaces.
  • Mix paint colors.
  • Have knowledge of various types of paints and some understanding of applications of latex, vinyl, alkyds, oil passed paints and other special paints such as epoxies.
  • Use brushes, rollers and various types of spray equipment efficiently and proficiently.
  • Must be able to prepare, install and repair wall surfaces and various types of wall coverings as required.
  • Spackle and tape sheetrock joints and install metal corner beads on sheetrock and plaster as assigned.
  • Install rubber and metal corner guards, rubber and vinyl cover or straight base and other protective strips assigned.
  • Use proper masking and correct solvents and mixing agents in preparing paints and other surface finish materials.
  • Perform miscellaneous jobs as required including cleaning and rubbish removal, moving of equipment, etc.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Must be able to stand and work for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy materials and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Attendance/Punctuality- employee is punctual and attendance is consistent with hospital policy.
  • Mandatory Education- exhibits an understanding of the hospital’s Mandatory Program.
  • Fire/Safety- demonstrates an understanding of the hospital’s fire and safety program and procedures as outlined in the fire and safety manual.
  • Infection Control- consistently utilizes infection control practices.
  • Dress Code- always observes the hospital dress code and wears identification badge.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility- learns new tasks, accepts new duties and adjusts to new procedures/processes/requirements.
  • Attitude- shows interest, enthusiasm and cooperation in work, company and associates.
  • Judgment- consistently chooses an appropriate course of action asks questions and asks for guidance as appropriate.
  • Exhibits a commitment to the values expressed in NIH’s Mission Statement.

Salary Range

Starting from USD $34.28/Hr.
