Job summary

The Scion Group is hiring a Painter Technician for University House Midtown in Atlanta. You will handle painting for interiors and exteriors, read blueprints, prep areas, and maintain tools.

The role includes day-to-day upkeep, turnover support, and safety compliance on site. Ideal candidates have proven painting experience, knowledge of materials and techniques, and the ability to work on ladders/scaffolding.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a painter.
  • Excellent knowledge of painting materials and how to select, mix and apply them.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial/construction painting techniques.
  • Aptitude in using brushes, caulking guns, and related tools for various heights and spaces.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic math.
  • Manual dexterity and balance for work on scaffolding and ladders.
  • The ability to climb stairs or levels.
  • Follows directions well and asks questions when needed.
  • High school diploma or apprenticeship completed.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and examine surfaces to determine work.
  • Prepare surfaces and set up for painting, including scaffolding and coverings.
  • Prime and paint interiors/exteriors per instructions.
  • Paint corridors, common areas, and exterior fixtures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure safe operation.
  • Store and dispose of paints and related chemicals per procedures.

We are in search of a Painter Technician who provides a customer-centric approach to an assigned property with a focus on the practical and aesthetic benefits of painting for interior and exterior of structures, buildings, interior corridors and other structures.Under the direction of the General Manager/Maintenance Supervisor, the Painter Technician will maintain a schedule for completing general painting upkeep and aesthetic of the assigned property.

The Day to Day
  • Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
  • Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures/furniture, taping off walls, covering sprinkler heads etc.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
  • Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material.
  • Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools.
  • Flexibility to be inside or outside depending on immediate needs of the property.
  • Preps and paints immediate move-in’s, resident units with early move-outs, and assists during turnover needs.
  • Paint corridors, hallways, trash rooms, common area spaces, study rooms, amenity spaces, parking garages, exterior fixtures, ceilings etc.
  • Cleans up work spaces before departure each day.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating conditions. Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Stores, handles and disposes of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a painter
  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques

  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic math
  • Manual dexterity and excellent balance for successful execution of work on scaffolding, ladders etc.

  • Follows directions well and asks questions to clarify as needed
  • High school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship
Working Environment and Physical Demands

Extensive mobility including the ability to lift 100 lbs. as necessary, as well as ability to kneel, crouch, crawl and climb to reach items in need of repair. The ability to work with paint and other cleaning chemicals appropriate for specified jobs.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time (8 hours or more per day) to perform the following physical activities: bending, climbing step ladders, lifting, carrying, grasping, gripping, turning, reaching above shoulders, pushing and pulling, climbing stairs; stooping and squatting/ kneeling.
