Job summary

G A Richards Company is seeking a powder coat supervisor to oversee daily activities in the powder coating area, including hanging, painting, and inspecting components to meet quality standards. Qualifications

  • Experience with powder coat operations and related safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Verify work orders reflect materials pulled, setup, and back orders; inform management of delays.
  • Maintain ongoing weekly/monthly maintenance of paint room equipment.
  • Paint products and fill in when needed.
  • Train and onboard new employees in surface prep, spraying, drying, and bundling for shipping.
  • Inspect finished products for workmanship and quality before shipping.
  • Troubleshoot complaints and resolve paint issues.
  • Oversee disposal of flammable and hazardous waste per regulations; keep workshop orderly.
  • Control labor costs for the paint department.
  • Assist plant manager with supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, and evaluating staff.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and participate in safety meetings.

Job description

Pay Range: $26/hr - $31/hr

Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Summary: Oversees and leads the daily activities of workers performing powder coat; this includes hanging, painting, and inspecting components per quality standards. Also ensures that work is done efficiently according to daily and weekly schedules and or to fulfill specific orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Verify work orders to reflect materials pulled, set-up and/or on back order; informs production management of anticipated delays or material shortages
  • Responsible for managing ongoing weekly, monthly and as need maintenance of paint room equipment
  • Ability to paint product and fill in where needed
  • Trains and on boards new employee in the fundamental of powder coat including preparing surfaces for spray operations, applying paint, drying and bundling materials for shipping
  • Inspects finished products for workmanship and quality prior to shipping
  • Troubleshoots complaints and resolves any paint issues
  • Oversees disposal of flammable, toxic chemical (rags and filters) and other debris per safety/hazardous materials requirements;
  • ensures that workshop is kept clean and orderly
  • Responsible for controlling labor expense for paint department.
  • Assists plant manager with supervisory duties; assists with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; plans and makes work assignments, assists in appraising performance
  • Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices and oversees the activities of other employees in order to prevent injury to self or coworkers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
