Job summary

Intermountain Electronics is seeking a Paint Supervisor on First Shift at our South Point, Ohio facility to oversee all aspects of the paint process and ensure quality, safety, and on-time production. The role reports to the Manufacturing Manager and requires training, mentoring, and leading a team of painters and leads.

The ideal candidate will manage daily operations, coach staff, enforce safety regulations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating with the production

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent plus two years experience working as an industrial painter.
  • One year training or education in painting at a recognized trade school or apprenticeship program preferred.

  • Supervise the paint process daily to meet quality standards and cost targets.
  • Train and mentor leads and employees to maximize painting skills and career growth.

We provide custom‑engineered, packaged equipment to industrial markets. We specialize in designing, manufacturing, automating and testing power distribution equipment for OEM, mission critical, oil and gas and mining industries. Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, we are currently seeking a Paint Supervisor for our First Shift to be based at our South Point Ohio facility.

Job Description

Responsible for the daily supervision of all aspects of the paint process to ensure projects are in accordance with required quality standards and in a cost‑efficient manner. Train and mentor leads and employees to maximize their painting and prepping skills and to advance career growth; monitor employee performance, track and report on department quality and schedules employees work to meet production schedule.

Project Delivery
  • Ensure production is maintained in accordance with time schedules, drawing specifications, quality standards, employee safety and production goals, and assist in maintaining a goal‑oriented, safe, and quality‑conscious working environment.
  • Direct supervision and monitoring of lead/employee job performance to specified prints and documented procedures.
  • Look ahead on scheduling with input from Manufacturing Manager to best direct workforce priority jobs.
  • Coordinate staffing with team leads and Manufacturing Manager for best utilization of employee resources.
  • Discuss/review project performance with team leads and employees.
  • Provide training and direction to team leads, painters, painter helpers; coach and make effective suggestions and recommendations to improve employee performance and develop career paths.
  • Provide leadership to leads and employees on Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure employees are fully trained in all aspects of their jobs and provide training where required to ensure safety, quality, and production requirements are understood and that leads and new paint department team demonstrate proficiency.
Paint Process for both Shifts
  • Reviews project/paint requirements to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs prep work and paint/equipment setup; maintains paint booth and related equipment.
  • Leads safety efforts in paint area; enforces safety regulations; reads, understands and follows all SDS information for products being used in paint area.
  • Recommends processes/procedures to improve painting methods and equipment utilization.
  • Analyzes work/paint problems and elevates situation to the appropriate supervisor/manager.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to improve and motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains attendance and paint production data.
  • Confers with personnel in other work areas to coordinate activities in paint/production.
  • Trains new painters assigned to the paint area to ensure safety, quality, and paint requirements are understood and followed.
  • Responsible for quantity and quality of painted work produced in paint area.
Paint Preparation
  • Removes paint and finishes; prepares surfaces for application of paint, other finishes, or specialized surfaces, coverings or coatings.
  • Finishes, patches and repairs surfaces as needed, including emergency repairs.
  • Sand-blast items, components, buildings to be painted.
  • Wash, clean all surfaces.
  • Mask, prep buildings, parts, skids.
Paint
  • Identifies characteristics of surfaces to be coated and ensures proper preparation and application of coating.
  • Mixes and matches paints, and other finishes; prepares materials and equipment used for a variety of applications.
  • Applies various coatings including epoxy’s, enamels, urethanes, paints, varnishes, stains lacquers to a variety of surfaces using high volume, low pressure airless, and conventional paint equipment.
  • Checks for quality during the course of a job to ensure coating is applied according to specifications and to reduce re‑work.
Equipment/Safety
  • Operates a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including applicators, sandblasting and pressure washing equipment.
  • Maintains painting equipment such as hoses, pumps, and pressure tanks, spray guns, paint booth, etc.
  • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment as indicated by the assignment. This may include head socks, respirators, protective disposable suits, face shields, gloves and the like.
Other Essential Duties
  • Maintains regular and consistent job attendance, shows up to work on time.
  • Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of IE’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintain clean work area at all times.

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent plus two years experience working as an industrial painter.

Work Schedule

Must be able to work a 40 hour work week and additional time as required.
