Job summary

Westmor Industries is seeking a Paint Prep Technician for the night shift to support our production team. You will prepare surfaces, apply primers and fillers, and document measurements to ensure high-quality finishes.

Safety and organization are essential as you operate equipment and coordinate with teammates. The role emphasizes precision, reliability, and adherence to pre-paint standards, with night shifts from 4:30pm to 5:00am, Monday through Thursday, at our Morris, MN facility.

Responsibilities

• Surface preparation: sand surfaces with an air sander, apply sand poly and primer, verify removal of spatter and slag, and apply filler for a smooth, paint-ready finish.
• Measurement and documentation: measure pre- and post-sand dry mill thickness, record measurements with proper devices, complete required paperwork.
• Equipment maintenance: perform daily maintenance on paint prep equipment, clean paint booths and lights, change filters, keep the area organized.
• Safety and operation: identify and mask areas not designated for paint, safely operate tuggers, lifts and other machinery, wear PPE and follow safety procedures.
• Coordination and organization: coordinate workflow with team members, maintain a clean, orderly, efficient work area.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation
  • Sand surfaces using an air sander
  • Apply sand poly and primer
  • Verify removal of spatter and slag
  • Apply filler to achieve a smooth, paint‑ready finish
• Measurement & Documentation
  • Measure pre- and post-sand dry mill thickness
  • Record measurements using proper devices
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately
• Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform daily maintenance on paint prep equipment
  • Clean paint booths and lights
  • Change filters as needed
  • Keep the paint prep area organized and production-ready
• Safety & Operation
  • Identify and mask areas not designated for paint

Compensation

• The starting pay range for this position is $18 - $22 per hour. Final compensation will depend on various factors including: skills, experience, and location.
• Night shift positions receive an additional $3 per hour shift differential

Night Shift: 4:30pm - 5:00am, Mon - Thurs
