Job summary

Midwest Pain Management Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Pain Management Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery center in Lee’s Summit, MO. This PRN role focuses on pain management nursing care and patient/family comfort before and after procedures.

You will perform preop orders, assess patients, coordinate with the team, and ensure smooth discharge planning. Two years PACU/pain management experience preferred. Active RN license, BCLS, ACLS, and PALS as required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Pain Management, PACU setting; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• Required valid BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable.
• ACLS required.
• PALS as required by facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare your patient care area adequately, ensuring availability of necessary pain management equipment and supplies.
• Assess your patient’s level of fear/anxiety and provide comfort and support for your patient and family.
• Use two patient identifiers to verify your patient prior to all interventions and medications.
• Receive and implement all preoperative physician orders.
• Conduct a complete history, physical and psychological assessment to evaluate your patient prior to any procedure.
• Ensure your team is aware of all relevant information before and after procedures.
• Ensure your patient is cleared for discharge and contacted for follow up.
