Job summary

Illinois Bone and Joint Institute (IBJI) seeks a Physician Assistant to provide professional patient care under physician supervision in orthopedic settings. The PA assists in outpatient and hospital care, participates in surgical procedures, and supports pre- and post-operative management using established physician protocols.

The role involves direct patient care, dictating progress notes, and coordinating tests and treatments with the physician team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with completed residency.
• Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Active Certification from NCCPA.
• Active Licensure as Physician’s Assistant in Illinois.
• ACLS desirable; CPR required.
• Experience: orthopedic care preferred; 2+ years in physician office or hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Surgeon by rounding on patients in the hospital as directed.
• Assists the surgeon with major and minor surgical procedures in the operating room.
• Sees patients in the clinic independently and with supervision; dictates notes and orders.
• Prescribes medications and treatments per physician protocols; enters into patient records.
• Performs basic patient care services including wound assessment and suture removal.
• Assist in pre- and post-operative care and coordinate patient discharge.
