Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in Environmental - Virtual for students and recent graduates. The program runs May through August and supports remote work from many U.S. states.

Interns gain hands-on exposure to environmental programs and collaborate with a team in a collaborative environment. The role focuses on environmental projects, monitoring instruments, data collection, and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in a four-year university in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
• Recent graduate within 12 months in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provide technical support for environmental projects and programs at the assigned site.
• Assist in installation, operation, and maintenance of environmental/emission monitoring instruments.
• Operate and monitor sampling and data gathering equipment.
• Assist with hazardous waste site inspections and recommend actions compliant with regulations.
• Ensure proper labeling of solid waste and hazardous materials.
• Monitor solid waste drums and reclamation sites.
• Maintain knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
