Job summary

Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital - Wildwood offers a veterinary externship program designed to bridge academics and clinical practice for DVM students. Externs will gain hands-on experience in a small animal setting under supervision, performing histories, examinations and participation in surgeries, while developing diagnostic plans and client communication skills.

Rotations range from two to eight weeks, with a typical schedule including days, evenings and weekends, and a weekly stipend of $250.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
• You must carry professional liability insurance; AVMA PLIT coverage is free for student members.

Responsibilities

• Gather histories and perform physical examinations under supervision.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans with mentor doctor.
• Scrub in to surgery and assist in medical cases.
• Provide wellness care and maintain SOAP medical records.
• Develop client communication skills and professional competencies.
