Job summary

Socket.dev offers a veterinary externship program designed for DVM students to gain practical experience in a small animal practice under supervision. Externs will be involved in patient care, histories, exams and treatment planning, and will work with our veterinary team to build clinical skills.

The program runs flexibly from two to eight weeks, typically two or three weeks, with a schedule including days, evenings and weekends. A weekly stipend of $250 is provided to externs.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
• You must carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT) and submit a certificate of coverage with your application.

Responsibilities

• Gather histories and perform physical examinations under supervision.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans with mentor doctor.
• Scrub in to surgery and assist in management of medical cases.
