Job summary

West Side Pet Clinic invites veterinary students to join an externship program designed to bridge coursework and clinical practice in a small-animal setting. Externs work under a supervising doctor to take histories, perform exams, develop plans, assist in surgery, and record SOAP notes; schedules include days, evenings and weekends during the two-to-eight-week rotations.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
• Carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT) and provide certificate with application.

Responsibilities

• Gather histories and perform physical examinations under supervision.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans with mentor doctor.
• Scrub in to surgery and assist in medical cases.
• Produce SOAP notes and maintain medical records within daily practice timelines.
