Job summary

Virginia Green’s Summer Internship Program gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced professionals, and contribute to real projects across departments.

The internship is paid and focuses on applying coursework to real projects in agronomy, lawn care, and logistics, with mentorship and feedback throughout the program. Training toward the Registered Technician certification is provided, with fees paid by Virginia Green.

Qualifications

• Current college student in good standing studying agriculture, turf management, agronomy, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work outdoors and participate in hands-on field activities.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a truck and trailer.
• Must obtain state Department of Agriculture certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside leaders to learn Virginia Green’s products, services, and lawn care practices.
• Safely apply fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides under supervision.
• Identify turf concerns and provide agronomic guidance to customers and team members.
• Gain exposure to aeration, daily logistics, and equipment maintenance.
• Support research farm activities, including plot preparation and fertilizer/pesticide applications.
• Complete training toward Registered Technician certification, with costs paid by Virginia Green.
