Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Intern - Test Engineering in Batesburg, SC, to support a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is on-site and you will gain real-world experience with a global leader in urban mobility.

You will assist with test software and data systems, contribute to production test yield improvements, and participate in new product introduction teams, all within a structured mentoring program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering fields with a 2027–2028 graduation window.
• Proficient with Microsoft 360 (Word, Excel, Teams).
• Basic understanding of software writing and editing.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of electronics and ability to read schematics.
• Mechanical orientation and ability to handle test equipment assembly/disassembly.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the implementation of assigned actions as per the manufacturing action plan (audit, failure analysis, improvement plan).
• Collaborate with test/IT resources to ensure test software and data systems operate correctly with data maintenance.
• Communicate issues to R&D and submit forms/markups for documentation updates.
• Support analysis and continuous improvement of production test yield and identify root causes.
• Support technology transfers of test processes across the global supply chain.
• Help define test requirements and create test processes for new products in NPI.
• Ensure new test processes and tools are implemented per action plans.
