boisei labs is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for the summer in State College, PA. The role runs 10 or 12 weeks, with flexible start/end dates based on academic schedules.

Interns will contribute to prototypes, features, internal tools, and experiments, focusing on software implementation, testing, and problem solving as part of a venture studio that emphasizes ethical technology and social impact.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in CS/SE/Info Sciences or a related field.
• Interest in ethical technology and social impact.
• Experience building software through coursework, research, hackathons, internships, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub.
• Ability to learn quickly and communicate clearly.
• Comfort working in an evolving environment where priorities change.
• Ability to manage assigned work and raise risks early.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve product prototypes, user-facing features, and internal tools.
• Write, test, review, and document code with the engineering team.
• Use Git and GitHub to manage work and document decisions.
• Contribute to UI implementation and collaborate with design teammates.
• Evaluate technical feasibility and compare approaches for new concepts.
• Turn priorities into scoped tasks and communicate dependencies early.
• Present demos and explain technical choices to the team.
• Use AI-assisted development and testing tools thoughtfully and ensure quality.
