Job summary

HGA is seeking a Summer 2027 Structural Student Intern to gain exposure to a variety of structural engineering projects at our Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or Washington, DC offices. This paid internship typically runs 12 weeks from early June to mid August and targets college or graduate students enrolled in ABET‑accredited programs.

You will assist with structural calculations, study code requirements, and contribute to building design under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Architectural or Civil Engineering with ABET accreditation.
• Junior year or higher in undergrad or enrolled in a graduate program.
• Knowledge of structural analysis software.
• Understanding of steel and reinforced concrete design principles.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to a variety of structural engineering projects.
• Perform structural calculations and assist with building design.
• Research building code requirements and technical design considerations.
• Analyze reports, drawings, specifications, testing results, and other project data.
• Utilize structural analysis and design software to support project work.
• Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Participate in site visits and construction observations.
