Job summary

WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital offers a paid Nurse Extern externship from May 17, 2027 to July 10, 2027 with a 36-hour weekly commitment. Trainees rotate through Surgical, Medical, ED, Maternity, Critical Care, OR and Nursing Resource Team under a 1:1 RN preceptor.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, have completed Medical-Surgical rotation, and stay in good standing. BLS is required at hire.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled nursing student in good standing.
• Must have completed Medical Surgical rotation prior to externship start.
• Must maintain good standing in the nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with data collection, care delivery, and documentation.
• Support discharge planning and family education as needed.
• Maintain patient safety and infection control standards.

Education

High School Diploma or GED; enrolled in an approved Nursing program with completion of two clinical semesters

Enrollment in accredited BSN program (preferred)
