Job summary

Tryon Medical Partners' Pineville Gastroenterology is seeking a Medical Assistant Intern to support the GI team while gaining practical experience. This full-time, paid position runs Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, in Pineville.

You will escort patients, take vitals, assist with specimens, document in the EHR, and coordinate with physicians. Enrollment in a medical-related program and completion of vaccination and TB/testing requirements are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in or have a degree from an accredited university/college with a focus on medicine.
• Proficient computer skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Vaccination administration training may be required.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
• TB test and Hepatitis B vaccine requirements may apply.
• Maintain BLS certification expectations.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and collect patient history.; measure vital signs and document in the patient chart.
• Assist patients with transfers, dressing, and specimen collection.
• Assemble health information including symptoms, history, exam results, and diagnoses.
• Ensure reports and labs are available in medical records prior to appointments.
• Review forms for completeness and accuracy in the EHR.
• Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses or obtain information.
• Obtain and send patient medical records to support care delivery.
• Gain hands-on experience across lab, primary care, registration, and care coordination.
• Administer injections after training certification.
