Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
• Experience: Minimum one year in a medical facility as a medical assistant; gastroenterology experience preferred.
• Requirements for Level I: 1–4 years with supervision; more than 4 years with basic requirements and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with patient care and organize patient flow; accompany patients to exam/procedure room and help with transfers.
• Carry out clerical duties: scheduling, chart updates, insurance verification, records handling.
• Maintain patient rights, respond to emergencies, and support staff as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
