Job summary

Perry Township School District is seeking a UIndy Teaching Assistant for a paid internship in a K-12 setting. The role runs 15 to 19 hours per week during a 15–16 week semester, with a mentor teacher and supervising faculty member overseeing the practicum.

The position supports paraprofessional duties while completing practicum requirements and promoting a positive learning environment in collaboration with staff and administration.

Qualifications

• Must be a current UIndy student enrolled in the Education Program seeking licensure as a teacher.
• Must be a referral from the UIndy Apprenticeship Program.
• Previous experience in a school system is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher to increase student achievement.
• Assist with restrooms and feeding needs of students when necessary.
• Model professionalism in appearance, actions, and attitude.
• Ensure activities conform to building and district guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students and the community.
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Operate classroom equipment as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
