Job summary

CHS Inc. is recruiting for a Grain Originator Intern in Mitchell, SD. This hands-on internship will pair you with our full-time Grain Originator to engage with local producers, secure grain, and develop marketing plans.

You will gain practical experience in ag business, learn to analyze market trends, and participate in reporting and purchasing contracts. The program offers competitive pay and long-term growth potential, with a start as early as Spring 2027 depending on business needs and

Qualifications

Learn and assist with grain origination: procure grain from local producers and call on new accounts.
Learn and observe working with producers, updating them on market trends, current grain quotes, grain programs, and forming marketing plans.
Assist with reporting and typing all purchasing contracts quickly & accurately.
Assist Grain Originator with rail billing and grain sales settlements as needed.

Responsibilities

Gain knowledge of general agronomy skills such as scouting, crop protection products, crop nutrient products, seed, custom application procedures, mixing procedures, truck driving, and delivering product.
Perform all agronomy/seed operations.
Monitor and maintain quality of inventory.
Regulate and periodic housecleaning processes and record keeping.
Assist with repairs and preventative maintenance for all agronomy equipment including legs, conveyors, towers, vehicles, sprayers, floaters, trucks, etc.
Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed.
Work in and keep an environment that is compliant with state, local, and CHS Environmental and Safety policy.
