Job summary

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services is offering a six-week, paid training program for a Nurse Aide Student at the Davis & McDaniel Vet Care Center. The program combines classroom and clinical settings with the goal of achieving state certification and remaining employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at DMVCC.

Class hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 2:30pm; clinical hours run 6:45am to 3:15pm.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be highly motivated, thoughtful, considerate of others as a team.
• Must have a steady work record.
• High school graduate desired.
• Some type of experience working in a healthcare facility or working with elderly desired.

Responsibilities

• Attends class as scheduled.
• Completes assignments as scheduled.
• Interacts with instructor(s), peers, staff, and residents in a professional and courteous manner.
• Participates in and completes clinical assignments as scheduled.
• Follows facility policies and procedures, and direction of instructor(s) and supervisors.
• Upon completion of class, shifts will be offered based on facility needs.
