Job summary

The New York State Department of Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant 1 for the Oxford Veterans Home. This entry-level role provides direct patient care under clinical supervision and supports daily living activities to promote comfort and safety for residents.

Typical duties include monitoring vitals, observing conditions, documenting records, and communicating changes to the nursing staff. On-site training, a paid nurse aide program, and a pathway to CNA certification are available.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) under direct supervision.
• Monitor vitals and observe patients’ physical/mental/emotional conditions.
• Document health records and promptly report changes to supervising nursing staff.
• Offer comfort to patients and families to foster a supportive care environment.
