Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is looking for a climbing arborist trainee to join our on-site tree care team in West Chicago, IL. You’ll learn to trim, prune, and remove limbs, climb trees, and operate equipment while focusing on safety and quality work outdoors.

Starting pay is $20-$23 per hour, with paid time off, holidays, and advancement opportunities. Benefits include a 401(k) with company match, health plan, and employee stock purchase options.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Trim and prune trees and remove limbs safely on site.
• Learn to climb and work as part of a tree crew.
• Operate tools and equipment, including chainsaws and chippers.
• Assist in installing safety systems and removing hazardous trees.
• Maintain tools and follow safety procedures on every job.
