Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Lake Zurich/Long Grove, IL, is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to join an on-site tree care crew. You will learn to climb trees, prune and remove branches, and safely operate equipment as you build hands-on skills outdoors.

Starting pay is $20–$23 per hour, with benefits and opportunities for advancement through a structured development program for employees in the field.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete safety and orientation trainings upon hire

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew
• Learn to perform tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers and aerial lifts
