Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) offers a PAID Civil Engineering College Internship for District 4 during the 2027 Summer Construction Program. Interns work in multiple counties including Akron, Portage, and Mahoning, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and a part-time schedule.

Applicants must be enrolled in a Civil Engineering program, maintain good academic standing with at least a 2.0 GPA, and have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Civil Engineering degree and in good academic standing with a minimum of a 2.00 GPA.
• Must show proof of valid driver's license to operate state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Learn proper procedures for contractor work, safety upgrades, signage, drainage, and concrete/pavement/material testing
• Assist in project report preparations
• Work alongside engineers in the field on projects ranging from simple road reconstruction to complex bridge construction
• Gain hands-on experience and learn civil engineering processes firsthand
