People Creating Success in Thousand Oaks is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional to help adults with developmental disabilities engage with their community through arts, culture, and daily living activities.

You will provide transportation, support personal care, and help participants reach personal goals, while documenting progress and collaborating with the care team. A valid driver's license and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred; weekend availability is a plus.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsabilités

• Support daily living skills such as cleaning, cooking, budget management, and light chores.
• Follow care plans and help participants achieve personal goals.
• Encourage healthy habits, hobbies, and social activities.
• Assist with personal care including medication support, hygiene and bathing as needed.
• Collaborate in Person-Centered Care planning with participants, staff and management.
• Document shift and progress notes.

Employment Information

Location: Thousand Oaks

Full & Part-Time: $20.60 / hour

$10/month cell phone stipend

Flexible Shifts: Weekday & Weekends, Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, and overnight shifts

Your Responsibilities

Assist participant in connecting with their community and assist in building lasting relationships via providing transportation, participating in events, volunteering, and more

Support participants with daily living skills such as cleaning, cooking, budget management, and light household duties

Following care plans and helping participants achieve their personal goals

Encourage healthy habits, studies, hobbies, and social activities

Assist with personal care such as medication support, hygiene and bathing (lifting / transferring may be required)

Collaborate Person-Centered Care planning with participant, staff and management

Document shift and communication logs

Who We’re Looking For

Someone who is compassionate with a person-centered mindset

Someone who has a warm, respectful, and professional demeanor

Someone who is capable of communication with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments

A valid driver’s license

Responsible, and can document goal progress tracking with detail

DSP 1 & 2 certification (preferred, applicants who are not yet certified can take advantage of our internal certification programs)

CPR / First Aid certification (Training will be provided if applicants are not certified or need to be recertified)

Weekend Availability (Is a plus but not required)

Candidate Expectations of Development

Behavior Support & De-escalation: Support individuals through heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.

Emotional Regulation: Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
