Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, MD is seeking a full-time Day Shift Registered Nurse for the PACU. You will care for patients recovering from anesthesia and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality care and excellent patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or eligible to practice via Compact state agreements.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN bedside experience.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of perioperative nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and patient care management skills.
• Five to seven years of perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provides independent care to unit-specific patient population and serves as clinical resource.
• Accounts for processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care.
• Advances group practice on the unit and coordinates with nurse management.
• Cooperates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient needs.
• Acts as clinical resource for others.
• Supports charge nurse decisions and performs charge role as needed.
• Helps develop clinical practice protocols and standards for the unit.
• Participates in unit-based performance improvement and professional development activities.
• Orients new nurses to unit decision-making structures and councils.
• Serves as preceptor, coach and mentor to nurses and students; supports education offerings.
