Job summary

Rivers Health seeks a PACU Registered Nurse for a temporary/internal agreement to perform perioperative nursing duties. The role includes initial patient assessment, care planning, documentation, and discharge planning in collaboration with the care team.

The position requires WV nursing licensure, BCLS and ACLS, and at least 1 year of nursing experience in the relevant unit. On-call duties with 20-minute response may be involved.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with WV license; BCLS and ACLS required.
• On-call capability; report to duty within 20 minutes.
• One year nursing experience preferred in the area assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial assessment of patient.
• Formulate and update plan of care and nursing diagnosis.
• Provide safe, timely nursing care per policies and unit competencies.
• Accurate documentation of care and patient education.
• Discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Delegate patient care duties according to team member proficiency and accountability.
• Precept and educate new staff; participate in CQI and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain sterile environment and infection control on perioperative units.
• Ensure availability of surgical supplies and equipment; prepare case supplies for next day.
• Maintain patient privacy and deliver compassionate care across all ages.
