Job summary

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current RN Licensure in Texas or Compact.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required at hire; PALS required for PACU/ER.
  • ER should have ENPC and TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
  • Demonstrates competency as listed on the validation form.
  • Confirms patient identity using two identifiers and checks ID bracelet before procedures.
  • Provides updates, instructions and education to patients and families.
  • Follows hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Communicates safety hazards to peers and management.
  • Respects cultural differences and participates in performance improvement.
  • Delivers nursing care to assigned patient group including education, treatment planning and discharge planning.
  • Anticipates deterioration in vital signs or equipment and takes appropriate action.
  • Provides compassionate environment with emotional, psychological and spiritual support.
  • Maintains proper body mechanics and wears identification on duty.
