Job summary

TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville seeks a PACU RN to influence patient care through open, collaborative relationships with leadership and participation in hospital councils and nursing initiatives.

You will evaluate patients pre- and post-operatively, educate families, manage IV therapy and preoperative meds, and ensure surgical site verification and safety within a dedicated surgical team.

Qualifications

• ACLS valid within 6 months of start date.
• BLS valid within 30 days of start date.
• RN licensed with Associate Degree.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide education to patients and families about the procedure and perioperative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy (briefing, time-out, debriefing).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with providers, surgeons, and staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to safely care for patients.
• Assess and monitor patient condition and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about their medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
