Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a dedicated Clinical RN to join our PACU on a PRN basis. In the PAM RN PRN Unit Based Tier III role, you will monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and provide care to support safe emergence from surgery.

You will collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing peers, perform assessments, manage pain and nausea, and educate patients and families about recovery expectations.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in PACU or critical care nursing.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition following surgical procedures.
• Assess and manage pain, nausea, and other postoperative symptoms.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Educate patients and families on postoperative care and recovery expectations.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
