Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pre/Post Surgical unit. The role focuses on comprehensive patient assessment, safe medication administration, and coordinated care with physicians.

You will document in EPIC EMR, participate in interdisciplinary rounds, and mentor junior staff. The schedule is 40 hours on day shift, with weekend and holiday rotations.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing
• BLS Certification
• 3 years PACU, Critical Care, or Surgical RN experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing strongly preferred or completed within 5 years
• ACLS Certification and National Board Certification preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment
• Comfort with EPIC EMR system

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers for coordinated care decisions.
• Educate patients and families clearly, ensuring understanding and readiness for care transitions.
• Document accurately in the EMR to support continuity and safety.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to improve communication and transitions of care.
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture and pursue ongoing professional growth.
