Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced PACU RN to provide post-anesthesia care in various healthcare facilities across California. The role requires monitoring vital signs, ensuring safe awakening from anesthesia, and collaborating with anesthesia and surgical teams.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state in which RN is working.
• One year PACU experience preferred
• CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) or CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse) certification preferred
• ACLS and PALS certification per contract requirements
• Current CPR if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients post-anesthesia in the PACU and monitors recovery.
• Observes vital signs, airway status and level of consciousness to ensure safe emergence from anesthesia.
• Collaborates with anesthesia and surgical teams to manage post-operative care.
• Ensures patients awaken safely and discharge criteria are met.

Job description

The post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN cares for patients who have under gone anesthesia. The post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN is responsible for observing and treating a patient postoperation and making sure that they safely awake from anesthesia. The post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN must monitor vital signs and levels of consciousness to make sure that the sedation is wearing off properly, there are no adverse reactions occurring and patients are regaining consciousness.

• Current RN licensure in the state in which RN is working.
• One year PACU experience preferred
• CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) or CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse) certification preferred
• ACLS and PALS certification per contract requirements
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
