Odessa Regional Medical Center in Odessa, TX is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse to care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The role requires monitoring vital signs, assessing consciousness, and managing pain and nausea, with family communication about post-operative care.

The RN will monitor vitals, assess recovery, and collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists.

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• PALS preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Check blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature.
• Check the patient's level of consciousness and orientation.
• Administer medications to treat pain and nausea.
• Look for signs of bleeding, low blood pressure, or arrhythmias.
• Dress wounds and assess drains.
• Teach patients and their families about post-operative care.
• Update surgeons and anesthesiologists on the patient's condition.
• Transfer patients to the next destination, usually within a few hours.
