Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA is actively seeking registered nurses for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full-time role supports two specialized PACUs with a focus on high-acuity postoperative care and patient safety.

We require a BSN or active enrollment, MA RN licensure, and BLS/ACLS certification at hire. 1–3 years in critical care is preferred, with Level I trauma experience advantageous for OR West assignments.

Qualifications

• BSN required or actively enrolled in BSN program.
• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• BLS and ACLS required on hire; CPAN or CCRN certification preferred.
• 1–3 years of recent critical care experience; Level I Trauma experience preferred for OR West positions.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct post-anesthesia nursing care (Phase I/II) to adults.
• Monitors vital signs, airway, pain control, and neurological status; manages emergencies.
• Collaborates with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative team.
• Educates patients and families on recovery and discharge planning.
• Documents care in EPIC accurately.
• Maintains safety and participates in quality improvement activities.
