Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans seeks a Recovery Room Nurse to join the Post Anesthesia Critical Unit (PACU). You monitor patients emerging from anesthesia, manage pain, breathing, vitals, and monitor the surgical site until they’re stable for transfer or discharge.

Your calm, attentive care supports safe recovery in the immediate post-operative period. As part of the PACU team, you collaborate with anesthesia and surgery staff, document care accurately, and advocate for patient safety and comfort

Qualifications

• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

• Organize, prioritize, and coordinate post-operative patient care in PACU.
• Monitor breathing, pain, vitals, and surgical site after anesthesia.
• Educate patients and families on home care after discharge.
• Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
• Collaborate with surgery team to meet patient care needs.
• Maintain a safe environment and ensure continuity of care.
