Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, seeks a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Pre-Op Registered Nurse to deliver safe, evidence-based care for surgical patients. You will monitor vital signs, manage pain, assist with anesthesia recovery, and educate patients and families.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, airway management, coordinating with surgical and anesthesia teams, and accurate EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license (or eligible)
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year experience in PACU, ICU, or ED

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in PACU and Pre-Op areas.
• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and recovery status post-anesthesia.
• Prepare patients for procedures, including assessment and education.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and care teams.
• Document all patient care in the EMR.
• Support patients and families with education and reassurance throughout the surgical journey.
