Job summary

Midwest Specialty Surgery Center, a USPI-affiliated outpatient orthopedic center in Indianapolis, seeks a Registered Nurse to care for post‑operative patients before discharge. Education for patients and families and safety assessment for discharge are key duties; typical day covers 3–4 post‑op patients per shift.

This PRN role offers daytime shifts, no on‑call, no weekends or holidays, generally 8:00 am–6:30 pm with occasional longer hours as needed for discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• ACLS required.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgement.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Job description

Midwest Specialty Surgery Center is a free-standing orthopedic outpatient surgery center located on the southwest side of Indianapolis. Midwest specializes in total joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder as well as general orthopedic surgery.

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team that would work with patients after orthopedic surgery prior to discharge. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated, fast-learning professional who is able to multi-task effectively and maintain a good attitude and patience. A typical day would include caring for 3-4 post-op patients per shift. Primary duties would be education for patient and family prior to discharge as well as assessing that patient is safe to discharge home. You will not take call. You will not work weekends or holidays. Hours may vary from time to time, based on patient needs for the day. Typically, hours are 8-6:30pm. At times shifts may run later depending on when patients are ready to discharge.
