Job summary

Join Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Center - North Central, part of HCA Healthcare, in San Antonio, TX as a PACU Registered Nurse. You will deliver safe, compassionate postoperative nursing care and support timely discharge from the facility.

Responsibilities include preparing the patient care area, airway management, continuous vital sign monitoring, IV access, head-to-toe evaluations with a standardized scoring system, dressings checks, and reporting abnormalities to the surgeon.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a PACU or ICU setting; ambulatory surgery center preferred.
• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• BCLS certification required upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
• ACLS required; PALS as required by facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the patient care area and ensure equipment and supplies are available.
• Demonstrate proper airway management techniques.
• Monitor patient vitals and status according to policy.
• Insert, maintain, and remove IV catheters and saline locks.
• Perform head-to-toe evaluation using an approved scoring system.
• Check dressings or operative site and report abnormalities.
• Provide a safe, comforting environment and ensure discharge criteria are met.
